The Girolomoni ecosystem

A new concept in Italian organic supply chain

WHEN ORGANIC IS A MISSION

“We feed the world by feeding the Italian organic supply chain” to restore “Dignity to the land!”

Our farm has played a role in bringing organic farming to Italy and today, it continues to support organic growing, seeing it as a starting point rather than as a finishing line.

  • Keeping the soil fertile
  • Respecting people and biodiversity
  • Rebuilding the countryside and farming
  • Creating a fair economy, based on local area

These are the cornerstones in our construction of a new concept in organic short supply chains. The aim is to restore the key values of farming culture – respect for people and nature, the importance of a promise made – which today can be translated as using and seeking out energy from renewable sources, as paying a fair price for farmers’ work, as guaranteeing that consumers can enjoy a product made from Italian ingredients sold at fair prices, as preserving our natural heritage and our countryside.

ALL OF THE ACTIVITIES OF THE GIROLOMONI ECOSYSTEM

From a small organic farm in the Marche region, we have grown into what we can call the Girolomoni ecosystem today. Our idea first took practical form in the shape of organic pasta, going on to evolve into hospitality – with a guesthouse and B&B –, then into education and opportunities for meeting, with our Teaching Farm, and into culture with a Foundation to foster Gino’s message. The Girolomoni ecosystem is completed by the Cooperativa Montebello for farming and to procure wheat, and the Consorzio Marche Biologiche, to meet our network needs.

Our mission is to continue to develop a farming economy and short supply chain model that is sustainable in cultural, social, environmental and economic terms. That is why we have set up different structures, each with its own specific area of expertise:

  • Cooperativa Girolomoni to make and sell pasta and other products
  • Cooperativa Montebello for farming and growing our raw materials
  • GranoTurismo, with the restaurant in our Locanda, B&B Girolomoni and Educational Farm, for hospitality and educational visits
  • Fondazione Girolomoni for culture
  • Shops in Fossombrone and Urbino for local retail purposes
  • Consorzio Marche Biologiche to promote the organic short supply chain and the need to form networks

More about the Consortium

“The reconstruction of a countryside able to multiply fertility and to make towns and cities liveable again is more than just a simple technical fact, such as the discovery of television; it takes a vast commitment in terms of human strength and intelligence in every field, a whole made from highly creative and manual works of art, involving an imposing cultural, political and practical project.”
